June is the city's outdoor month. It stays light until around nine, average highs are around 25°C, and Vienna moves outside: to the Danube Island, to the Heurigen gardens in the vineyards, to the café terraces on the Ring.
The calendar is full. Vienna Pride fills the first half of the month and ends with the Rainbow Parade on the Ring. The Vienna Philharmonic's free Summer Night Concert in the gardens of Schönbrunn is usually held in June, and the Donauinselfest — a free music festival across the Danube Island — normally takes the last weekend of the month (in 2026 it was moved to early July). The concert season winds down towards the end of June.
It is also high season. Book hotels and time slots early, and plan the palaces for the morning, before the heat and the coaches.
What to know
- In 2026 Vienna Pride ran 29 May – 14 June, with the Rainbow Parade on 13 June; 2027 dates are not yet published.
- The Summer Night Concert at Schönbrunn is free; arrive early for a place on the lawn.
